Previously integrated in the S. Martinha Estate, was accepted by the Cascais Municipality in order to preserve this important legacy, that moulded the lifestyle of the local populations.
In fact, this is a region that uses milling systems since remote periods, at least since the 11th century.

This type of mill was first produced in the 19th century in the United States of America, and arrived in the beginning of the 20th century to Portugal, as the urban area was developing and the consumption of farinaceous products, such as bread, was reaching its peak.
This was an easy to install and efficient structure, therefore diffused with success in all the region.

The ‘American type’ Windmill is nowadays opened to the public as a museum that shows off the importance of this kind of structure and its production throughout the years, for a great heritage end ethnography education and preservation.

The visits to the museum are scheduled in advance for groups with more than 10 people.
