Arieiro Peak

Santana

Information

The Pico do Arieiro is the third highest peak on the Madeira Island, with its high point situated at 1818 meters. The highest peak in the island is the Pico Ruivo at 1861 meters high, and the second is the Pico das Torres, at 1851 meters high.
From here the views are absolutely spectacular, with a privileged panorama over the “Atlantic Pearl”, as the Madeira Island is often named. When the weather is nice and bright it is even possible to see Porto Santo, the neighbouring island, which is situated at about 30 nautical miles to the north.
The peak is accessible by car, in a steep road.
A very pleasant and beautiful pedestrian path with about 7km, excellently built, the Vereda do Arieiro, leads to the amazing Pico Ruivo, providing an astonishing panorama, where one literally walks above the clouds.
In the Arieiro Peak is also located a mountain hotel, filled with peace of mind and tranquillity, and also a cafeteria and a shop with handicraft and regional products.
