Information

Situated in the limits of the beautiful Ponte da Barca village, in the northern greenish Minho region, this historical bridge is located over the Lima river, in an astonishing landscape, of great natural beauty.

The village owes its toponym to this Bridge, built in the 14th century and since then the main access to Ponte da Barca, leading to development of the village.
This bridge was also quite important for pilgrimage routes, as this was an important point to the pilgrimage to Santiago Compostela, in Spain.

Nowadays the bridge is classified as a National Monument, and has suffered big conservation works in the 18th and 19th centuries.
The bridge is constituted by ten arches, unequal, conserving from the medieval construction eight arches.
