Vilar Maior Medieval Bridge

Vilar Maior - Sabugal


Situated on the boundaries of the beautiful historic village of Vilar Maior, nearby Sabugal, this Bridge is also known as “Medieval Bridge” over the river Cesarão, and is located in a beautiful mountain side landscape.

The monument probably dates from the Medieval period, or might have been re-built in the 13th and 14th centuries, having as a base a previous construction.

This granite bridge is constituted by three round arches with intrados, with 45 meters length and 4,4 meters width.
The roadway is paved with granite stones.
