Valhelhas Old Bridge

This ancient Bridge is located over the Zêzere river, in the Valhelhas village, right in the heart of the immense Estrela Mountain range.

The bridge was, supposedly built over a previous construction dated from the Roman occupancy period, existing an ancient roman road with a bifurcation in this area. Nevertheless, this bridge would have been built in 1631.

The bridge is now closed for vehicles flow, after the construction of a recent one, in 1978.

The Valhelhas Old Bridge is constituted by four big arches, and has around 12 meters high and about 109 meters length.
