Guia Mount

Located on the southeast of the wonderful Horta town, on the beautiful Faial Island, known as the Blue Island of the Azores Archipelago, the Protected Landscape of the Guia Mount presents landscapes of great natural beauty.

The Guia Mount is a group of two volcanoes (one with marine origin and another one terrestrial), linked by an isthmus with thin sandy dunes and beach, forming a peninsula, inserted in the volcanic complex of the Almoxarife Beach, with its highest peak situated at 145 meters above the sea level.

This is one of the few places in Azores with sandy dunes, possessing an endemic vegetation of great value, like the typical heather of the Island’s cedar, and is also privileged habitat for several fauna species, specially Avifauna.

From the Guia Mount one has excellent panoramas over the beautiful Porto Pim Bay and the fantastic Horta’s historical centre.
