Almada de Ouro

Castro Marim

Information

Almada de Ouro is a picturesque small village in the lovely Castro Marim department, by the gorgeous Guadiana riverbank, in a landscape symbolic of the “other” Algarve, filled with charisma and beauty, distant from the tourist beaches of golden sand.

The Guadiana river characterizes the landscape and has influenced the lifestyle of this peaceful place, once an important Gold mine spot, that named the village (“ouro” means Gold).

The region invites for pleasant walks among the mountain side nature and the gracious Guadiana river, offering great beauty landscapes and peace of mind.

A big Tourist project is taking place nowadays, with four big luxury resorts, with accommodation, golf court and other leisure and restaurant facilities, in an area of about 300 hectares, by the river Guadiana.
