São Sebastião Church ( Terceira Island )

The lovely São Sebastião Mother Church is located in the charming village of São Sebastião, on the eastern coast of the wonderful Terceira Island, Azores Archipelago.

The São Sebastião Mother Church was probably built in the end of the 15th century, presenting a late-Gothic style not too common in the Island. The main highlights are its frescos, unique in the entire Archipelago, dated from the 16th century, representing Saints and the Stations of the Cross.

The temple presents three naves, and its façade is centred by the lovely Portal that, along with the vault’s decoration in the interior, show off a lovely sober Manueline style.
