Nossa Senhora da Purificação Church

The beautiful Nossa Senhora da Purificação Church, also known as Candeias Church is located in Santo Espírito village, on the amazing Santa Maria Island, Azores Archipelago, and is characterized by its profusely decorated Baroque façade .

Built before 1537, the Church was later modified and amplified on the 18th century, presenting then its Baroque style, that delights those who contemplate it, classified since 1957 as a Public Interest Building.
The Nossa Senhora da Purificação Church is composed by three naves, with round arches and seven altars, tower bell and two salient chapels.
