Capelo Natural Swimming Pool

Nearby the famous Capelinhos Volcano, the Porto do Comprido Natural Swimming Pools, on the lovely Capelo small village, perfectly demonstrate the natural beauty of the volcanic inheritance of the Faial Island, on the Azores Archipelago.

During several years here was located an important Whale Station, housing more that 20 boats of these Whalesmen, confirming the big Whale industry inheritance of this Island.

Formed by basaltic rocks that were formed with the solidification of the incandescent lava in the Ocean, these Swimming Pools present configurations of great charm and beauty, with its dark volcanic rocks graciously contrasting with the vast Atlantic Ocean profound blue.
