Torre de Dona Chama's Bridge

This monument is situated over the Tuela river, at abour 3km distance from the small village of Torre de D. Chama, nearby Mirandela, in the Northern region of the Country.

The bridge is built in granite masonry, constituted by six round arches with a radius of about 4,4 meters. The roadway has about 100 meters long and 6,3meters width.

This bridge is often named as “Roman”, yet its construction is not dated from the Roman occupancy period. It was probably built with materials from a previous Roman construction or even built over a Roman bridge.

Nevertheless it is thought that the bridge would have been integrated on the Roman Road that would link to Zamora and Salamanca.
