Moinho do Álamo

Moinho do Álamo is located on the Rio Almansor valley near Montemor-o-Novo and surrounded by typical and peaceful rural Alentejo scenery. It is a unique property, ideally suited for events and private parties or, simply, a restful stay.

The original watermill ruin dates back to the 19th Century and has been reconstructed to suit modern standarts, offering excellent Bed & Breakfast facilities – there are 4 bedrooms each with private bathroom, central heating, music and satellite TV, as well as a spacious shared terrace with direct access to the swimming pool. Delicious “Alentejo” gastronomy is served in the spectacular stone dinning room and the sitting room with open log fire, is particulary welcoming on longer winter evenings.

Many outdoor amenities available to guests range from horseback riding, river boating, bicycle rides, a large swimming pool or reading peacefully in a hammock, to a very romantic island folly (in the middle of the river) and charmingly set up outdoor lunches. It is also possible to visit the nearby towns of Montemor-o-Novo and Évora (a World Heritage Site) and their historic monuments. Events and private parties can be catered for in a spacious marquee set up on the vast lawn garden.
