Casa da Cerca

Situated in the Almada’s historical centre, in the top of a hill, with a privileged view over the Tagus river and Lisboa’s city centre, the Casa da Cerca is nowadays an exhibition space dedicated to contemporary art.

The house is located in the Cerca Palace, considered to be the most characteristic example of civil architecture from the 18th century in Almada borough, constructed between the 17th and the 18th century, with Baroque and Romantic influences, being restored in the end of the 20th century.

The Casa da Cerca is a cultural centre, with exhibition rooms, a documentation and information centre and a lovely botanical garden (named “O Chão das Artes” - “The floor of the arts”) with many things to discover and benefit from.
