Angra do Heroísmo Beach

Also known as Prainha, this is the centremost beach of the wonderful town World Heritage Angra do Heroísmo, situated on the amazing Terceira Island, Azores Archipelago.

Located next to the town’s marina, this is a quite frequented beach as it presents good accesses and nearby facilities, and is also the only thin sand beach in the amazing Angra do Heroísmo Bay.

In this bay the waters are quite calm and crystalline, quite frequented by families due to the beach centrality and safety.

During the Portuguese Discoveries Era, 15th century. as it was located in a strategic location of the Angra do Heroísmo town where many of the international trading routes passed, this beach served as shipyard, repairing the ships that sailed into the “New World”.

The beach provides bar service, sun shades and beds for rent, lifeguard and toilets.
