Miranda do Douro's Old Bridge

Miranda do Douro

Situated over the Fresno river, in the Miranda do Douro town, right in the lovely Trás-os-Montes region on the north of the Country, this bridge was once the main entrance door in the town, situated at about 100 meters from the town’s defensive walls.

It is thought that the bridge was built in the 16th century or even before, with materials from this region. The bridge presents a plain roadway with a maximum width of 4 meters, based upon three unequal pointed arches, with the central bigger than the others.
